It is with regret that we have taken the decision to postpone our first fundraising ball at the Crowne Plaza on 21st March, to later in the year.

This decision has been taken primarily to protect the many Dementia Matters colleagues that will be in attendance, from possible infection and as a complex care provider, we feel this is the most sensible course of action. It is our intention to operate Dementia Matters services throughout this Coronavirus outbreak, but naturally this depends on the availability and good health of our colleagues.

We hope therefore that you agree with our reasoning behind this decision.

Thank you to all who have supported the Ball, especially our sponsors JAYCO, and we hope to see you all later in the year.

On the 21st Marchwe will be hosting our inaugural spring ball.

Set to be one of the highlights of the fundraising social calendar, the Ball, Great Gatsby Themed, which will be held on Saturday 21st March 2020 and hosted by Sky Sports' PETE GRAVES at the Crowne Plaza in Newcastle will comprise a three-course dinner with live entertainment, music and a charity auction.

Open to businesses and individuals to attend, we hope that the Ball will help to raise vital funds to enable Dementia Matters to further develop the residential care services at its Bradbury Centre site near Newcastle.

“Over the last 12 months, we have been slowly converting unused space and former offices into residential bedrooms at The Bradbury Centre,” said Dr Fraser Quin, chief executive at Dementia Matters.

“For many people living with dementia, moving into residential care can be incredibly scary and disorientating and can cause their condition to deteriorate faster. Research has shown that providing bespoke care in a more intimate environment helps people to feel more settled more quickly which is why we have opted to grow our care service in gradual stages.

“We have now completed two phases of development at the Centre to create 8 state-of-the-art, dementia friendly bedrooms but due to a high level of demand from existing service users as well as new enquiries, we are now looking to create even more.

“In order to achieve this, we need to fund raise £300,000 for important building work and renovations. We hope that the auction at our Charity Ball in Spring will go a long way to help achieve this goal but above all, we just want everybody to come along and have a good time!”

Tickets are available to purchase now at £600 for a table of 10 or £60 for individual seats.
